Save The Kimberley teams up with Nature’s Organics to spread our message: the Kimberley is too precious to plunder – there are alternatives to on-shore gas processing in the unique Kimberley. The ad launches Sunday, September 30th, 2012 to air on 9 and 10 in the Sydney and Melbourne metro areas. Thanks to Nature’s Organics for their generous support of Save The Kimberley.

A few words from Justin Dowel, Managing Director of Nature’s Organics (Earth Choice products)
After hearing about the government and Woodside’s proposed gas hub in the Kimberley, I was compelled to investigate the facts. I contacted Save the Kimberley and promptly flew up to Broome to meet with them. The Kimberley boasts an amazing coastline with abundant wildlife. It became clear to me immediately, that we have no right to carve it up and destroy the habitats of so many forms of animal and plant life.
I couldn’t believe that our government would put industry ahead of one of the planet’s last remaining pristine coasts. How could our government even consider a project that would create more CO2 than is produced by the entire country of New Zealand? This would negate any benefit the new carbon tax would have and will increase Australia’s carbon emissions significantly. Perversely, it seems that the creation of this enormous industrial precinct would be more about carbon tax revenue for the government as the 50 million tonnes of CO2 would equate to $1.15 billion in carbon tax revenue.
We at Nature’s Organics felt the best way to get involved was to commission a television commercial and broadcast it to as many people as we could afford to. We need to show the Australian public about the devastation that could be the Kimberley’s fate.
Nature’s Organics has a proud history of putting our resources into protecting the environment around the globe. However, if we as Australians can’t even protect our own back yard, then how can we protect the rest of planet? It’s time to say enough is enough – before we’re left with only industry and the scars that it leaves.
We need Australians to make a stand and say, “No, this is our country, and if we want our children to see its last remaining beauty, then this project must not be allowed to proceed.”
Regards
Justin Dowel
